My friends Fana, Melanie, Molly, and I went for afternoon tea one Saturday - we stopped by the Orangery at Kensington Palace and had a delicious meal, plus the location was absolutely beautiful. It wasn't too badly priced, about £18 for full tea service, but you can also pick and choose things off the menu for a smaller price. It was great to hang out with everyone for one of our last weekends in London and not a bad way to start the morning! Afterwards we all split up to run our respective Christmas shopping errands -- I went down to Regent St expecting it to be a total zoo, which it was, but in a different way than I was expecting. They had shut down the street and had carnival rides set up, people playing Christmas music on brass instruments, old-fashioned wagons driving down the street, and just general holiday merriment all around. Plus there were what seemed like thousands of people dressed in Santa costumes running around Piccadilly Circus and all over the Underground system. That night I met up with my Aunt Kathy & Uncle Dick who were in London for the week, as well as their good friends Charlie and Suzi, and we went out to dinner, then to the Royal Opera House to see the ballet Sleeping Beauty. It was incredible! Exactly what you would imagine a ballet should be like - the costumes and sets were absolutely exquisite, and of course the dancers were beautiful. All in all a great day in London and a good way to spend one of the last few days before winter break!
